The Lord of the Rings

Enhancing Collaboration & Communication at Tesco’s Welwyn Garden City Campus
As one of the UK’s leading retailers, Tesco continually invests in creating smarter, more connected workplaces. At their Welwyn Garden City campus, the need for modern, flexible meeting spaces and a more dynamic internal communications strategy became a priority. With over 300 meeting rooms and thousands of employees on site, Tesco sought a solution that would not only improve day-to-day collaboration but also unify corporate messaging across the campus. The objectives were twofold:
Implement a secure, large-scale meeting room technology solution that would be intuitive and reliable for everyday use.
Deploy a campus-wide digital display network, centrally managed via a content management system (CMS), to share colleague updates, corporate campaigns, and live news.
To meet Tesco’s requirements, we delivered a tailored solution that balanced functionality, flexibility, and security:
Desk Caddy System: We designed a bespoke desk caddy solution offering multiple cable interfaces to accommodate a wide range of laptop types and connectors. Wireless connectivity was deliberately excluded due to Tesco’s stringent security protocols.
Integrated Power Provision: Each desk caddy was equipped to provide power for multiple users, supporting collaborative working without disruption.
Flexible Infrastructure: Cable management systems and floor boxes were engineered for rapid installation and easy reconfiguration, allowing rooms to be adapted quickly for different layouts and use cases.
Digital Display Network
Small Format Displays: These were installed throughout the campus and connected to a nominated CMS platform, enabling the distribution of corporate messaging, employee benefits, and live news feeds.
Large Format Projection Systems: In larger meeting rooms and shared-use spaces, we installed projection screens and audio systems to support town-hall style meetings and high-impact presentations.
Empowered Collaboration: With intuitive, reliable conferencing systems in place, employees could connect and collaborate more easily—resulting in smoother meetings, faster decision-making, and a noticeable boost in productivity.
Vibrant Internal Communication: The digital display network brought corporate messaging to life across the campus. From colleague updates to live news and campaign highlights, content was not only visible—it was engaging, timely, and relevant.
Future-Proof Flexibility: The infrastructure was designed with adaptability in mind. Whether reconfiguring meeting spaces or evolving communication strategies, Tesco now has the tools to scale and respond to changing business needs with ease.
