The Lord of the Rings

With Sky being one of the biggest broadband providers in the UK, and the third largest advertiser, the pressure was on to deliver something unforgettable. This experience did exactly that.
Sky wanted to showcase the incredible speed of its new broadband service in a way that was visually striking, interactive, and memorable. The experience needed to:
Represent the speed of the broadband service in a tangible way.
Be engaging for users of all ages.
Include a digital selfie feature that could be instantly emailed to participants.
Working in close partnership with JCDecaux and our build partners PKS Media Solutions, Skratch® developed a fully immersive branded experience that fused the playful energy of the Minions with the technological prowess of Sky Broadband.
At the centre of the activation was a full-scale exploded model of a bus shelter, transformed into a high-impact stage. Inside, we engineered a solar-powered experience that simulated the sensation of broadband speed.
From the moment people approached the exploded bus shelter, they were drawn into a whirlwind of colour, chaos, and cool air. The blast of wind hit like a broadband-powered breeze, catching people by surprise and sparking laughter. The Minions branding added a layer of cheeky charm, making the whole setup feel like a scene straight out of a movie.
And then came the selfie moment—a digital snapshot of pure joy. With wild hair, wide eyes, and wind-blown expressions, users captured the thrill of the experience and instantly received their photo via email. It was shareable, memorable, and totally unexpected.
The installation was not only sustainable but also visually captivating, drawing crowds and encouraging participation.
The campaign didn’t just communicate speed—it made people feel it. The result? Laughter, wind-swept selfies, and a flurry of inbox pings. The activation didn’t just turn heads—it stopped people in their tracks, sparked spontaneous reactions, and had passersby exclaiming, “Did that bus shelter just give me a broadband-powered blow-dry? It was bold, brilliant, and beautifully bonkers in all the right ways.
